LUMBRA HARDWOODS -- Stephen Lumbra, co-owner of Lumbra Hardwoods in Milo, is seen in this 2010 file photo. Lumbra blamed rising costs for the company shuttering later this month.
Stephen Lumbra, co-owner of Lumbra Hardwoods in Milo, said that he disagrees with the idea of creating a North Woods National Park in Maine. Now that Roxanne Quimby has been named to be on the board of the National Park Foundation, the subject of the proposed park has resurfaced. "I think it would take the land out of the tax base and now the state needs money more then ever," he said. The Lumbra brothers, Stephen and Benny, buy logs from about 100-mile radius to supply their mill with raw material for sawing hardwood lumber. They are concerned about a possible shortage of logs if a proposed park is established. (Bangor Daily News/Gabor Degre)
