Piscataquis Democrats collect for Dyer’s Hope House

On Feb. 25, members of the Piscataquis County Democrats’ service committee were at the office to collect money and food items for Dyer’s Hope House in Milo. Then the following week, they delivered an abundance of food items plus a $200 check to John Cramm of Dyer’s Hope House. This food cupboard is open every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cramm stressed how vital Dyer’s Hope House is to needy area residents and how contributions will aid families in need. Recently, to add to their hardships the pandemic-era boost to their SNAP benefits have now expired.  Households in Maine will see an average benefit reduction of $190 a month. This creates an even greater challenge to families/households already struggling with inflation, high fuel and food costs.

It is crucial that we continue to address food insecurity in our area which is a huge challenge and now amplified by SNAP benefit reduction. We have raised over $5,000 since February 2021 for area food cupboards.
Please support our effort by sending checks to PCDC 25 North Street, Dover-Foxcroft, c/o Service committee or contribute to https://secure.actblue.com/donate/pcdcservice. All funds go to local food cupboards. Thank you for your continued support!
