Gallagher to take over as Friends of Community Fitness executive director

GUILFORD — Friends of Community Fitness has announced the hire of new executive director Britney Gallagher of Dover-Foxcroft. After interviewing several excellent candidates, she was recommended by the search committee to the full board. She will begin training on Nov. 2 to begin her duties on Nov. 23.

Gallagher is uniquely qualified for the position with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and 10 years past experience as a volunteer and aquatics & fitness manager at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA. She will be replacing Gayle Worden who is retiring after serving as executive director since the non-profit’s founding in 2003.

When asked her thoughts about this transition Worden offered, “I have great confidence in Britney’s ability to bring Community Fitness to the next level. Her passion for fitness and business mind combined with her enthusiasm and drive are a great fit for the position. I know I’m leaving the center in great hands.”

Friends of Community Fitness is a 501(c)3 non-profit fitness and community center located at 31 High Street in Guilford.
