PRYMCA receives grant for heating/air system

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Trump Administration announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $5,434,400 to help eight essential community facilities in rural Maine. This investment will serve an estimated 730,796 people.

Among the eight recipients is the Piscataquis Regional YMCA of Dover-Foxcroft, which has been selected to receive a community facilities grant in the amount of $67,400. This rural development investment will be used to upgrade the dehumidification system and other components of the facility’s heating ventilation and air conditioning system. These systems are antiquated, inefficient and no longer function properly. The project will result in significant energy savings and improved air quality.

USDA Rural Development Maine State Director Timothy P. Hobbs said, “Maine’s community facilities provide vital services for rural residents that improve the quality of life in our state. I am pleased that under the leadership of the Trump Administration, USDA Rural Development is investing in critical services that support education, fire and safety training and important community services.”

More than 100 types of projects are eligible for community facilities funding. Eligible applicants include municipalities, public bodies, nonprofit organizations and federally recognized Native American tribes. Projects must be in rural areas with a population of 20,000 or less. Interested entities should contact Robert Nadeau, community programs director, at 207-990-9121 or robert.nadeau@usda.gov for information about additional funding, application procedures and eligibility details.
