In recognition of National Correctional Officers Week May 3-9, Piscataquis and Penobscot County District Attorney Marianne Lynch said she would like to extend her deep appreciation to all the hand working correction officers in the two counties and all those serving in the capacity across the state.

On Tuesday she sent thank you letters to Piscataquis County Sheriff Robert Young and Penobscot County Sheriff Troy Morton. In the letter to Young, Lynch wrote, “Please extend my personal appreciation to all the fine men and women on your staff who serve as correction officers. I am grateful for all they do to protect the safety of our communities and for those in their care. During my tenure at the District Attorneys Office, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges they meet with every day. Their efforts are all the more noteworthy as they bravely face the uncertainties of working during the coronavirus pandemic

“I applaud their commitment to their profession and the bravery they display particularly in our troubled times. I am deeply grateful working with such a dedicated group of professionals.”
