DOVER-FOXCROFT — On Saturday, Feb. 1 the Dover-Foxcroft Republican Committee held its biennial caucus. During the caucus, new municipal officers were elected and delegates to the Maine Republican Convention were selected. At the caucus, the committee also voted to make every registered Republican a member of the committee and elections were held for the executive committee.

The new executive committee was elected as follows: Sam Katz as the chair, Tracy Redmond as vice chair, Nanette Redmond as secretary and Johanna Turner as treasurer and finance chair.  Additionally, Katz was also elected as chairman of the Dover-Foxcroft delegation to the state convention and to the Piscataquis County Republican Committee. Finally, Tracy and Nanette Redmond were also voted onto the Piscataquis County Committee and Nanette was also elected as the election clerk for Dover-Foxcroft. Turner already serves on the county committee as treasurer.

There is still one vacancy for representation on the Piscataquis County Republican Committee and several openings for delegates and alternative delegates to the state convention. The state convention will be held at the Augusta Civic Center on May 1-2.

Following the caucus, Chairman Katz issued the following statement, “I am honored to serve as the new Chairman of the Dover-Foxcroft Republican Committee. There is no question that many feel our freedoms are under attack and that there are elements that seek permanent political control of our state and country by any means necessary. If we stay on this path, our country and state will continue the descent into darkness. There are many opportunities for people to become more involved and to take advantage of the freedoms that our Founding Fathers fought for. I strongly encourage those who are concerned that we are losing our country to use the freedoms that our Founding Fathers fought for. One person can make a difference and we invite all registered Republicans to join us.”

Registered Republicans in Dover-Foxcroft who are interested in getting involved and/or attending the state convention as a delegate or alternative delegate or serving as a member to the Piscataquis County Republican Committee are encouraged to reach out to Katz at
