SeDoMoCha shines the spotlight on outstanding students and staff

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Each month the SeDoMoCha School recognizes “Students in the Spotlight,” celebrating pupils from kindergarten to grade 8 who teachers and staff have determined best demonstrate a specific positive attribute or characteristic chosen for the timeframe from the Habits of Mind (a set of life skills for educators and parents). The 12 December students were honored for “Demonstrating Empathy” during an all-school assembly in the gym on the morning of Friday, Dec. 20.

 

The honorees are Hayden Jones, kindergarten; Libby Yeo, grade 1; Aurora Youngblood, grade 2; Kaylyn Ryder, grade 3; Annabelle Turgeon, grade 4; Ella Annis, elementary unified arts; Maddox Weidman, grade 5; Alexis Burdin, grade 6; Shayli Cirulli, grade 7; Lily Smith, grade 8; and Chloe Strout and Kenadie Strout, middle school unified arts.

New for this academic year is a staff piece for the Spotlight program. Four staff members were nominated by their peers and an Employee in the Spotlight winner was chosen. Jamie Champeon, kindergarten Title 1 educational technician; Andrea Philbrook-Cooper, special education teacher; Jeannine Reece, middle school guidance; and Wendy Berce, administrative assistant, all came forward to be recognized.

School administrators chose the winner, and the December Employee in the Spotlight honor went to Philbrook-Cooper. All four of these staff members will have a designated space in the parking lot for the month of January.
