GUILFORD — More than a dozen pupils in grades 5-8 at Piscataquis Community Elementary School are November Students of the Month. The month’s honorees were presented with certificates in front of their peers and teachers during an assembly in the cafeteria to start the day on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Students of the Month are selected by their teachers for criteria such as outstanding citizenship and academic performance. Principal Anita Wright told the audience that some of the recipients are “working harder and being more on task,” “goes out of their way to help their peers,” “looks for opportunities to help around the classroom,” and “volunteers to pass out iPads and notebooks and stacks chairs at the end of the day.”
