DEXTER — Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition’s (DDATT) First Friday meeting at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 7 at the Abbott Memorial Library will feature a video produced by Dr. Alder Stone Fuller titled “Beyond Politics and Economics: Addressing Climate Change Requires More.” Dr. Fuller and his associate meteorologist Ed Hummel will then conduct a group discussion of the thesis of the video: that political, economic and legal changes addressing climate change are necessary, but not sufficient while explaining what else is needed. Hummel understands and wholeheartedly supports Alder’s program and its importance to transitioning to a truly sustainable society that is crucial for our future on Earth.

The video is 56 minutes long and it can be watched by anyone interested before June 7 at https://alderstone.wistia.com/medias/le0wfj8bi6. It will be shown in full during the first hour of the June meeting.

For those of you who do not know him, this will not be Dr. Fuller’s first visit to Dexter. In the past, he has offered numerous public lectures here about the complexity sciences applied to nature, Earth and life, and taught two full courses: one about climate change (2012), the other about complexity sciences (2015). Note: his introductory course “Complexity 101: How Nature Works” is now available in video format, including online streaming.

DDATT’s mission is to share skills and ideas to increase local food and energy independence. Please call 277-4221 or 924-3836 or email info@ddatt.org for more information.
