South soccer stars capture two games at 24th Senior Bowl
WATERVILLE — South teams won two games, the North captured one and the other ended in a tie during high school soccer action at the 24th annual Senior Bowl at Thomas College on Sunday, Nov. 11.
In the boys games, the South Classes A-B all-stars beat the North 3-1 and the North stars prevailed in the C-D game 2-1 while the South A-B girls tipped the North 1-0 and the North C-D stars tied the South 2-2.
In the boys A-B game, Eric LaBrie of Yarmouth, Jack Mullen of Cheverus in Portland and Tristan Wirth of Kennebunk scored goals for the South. Keto Tchiputo of Portland and Michael Nason of Cheverus added assists. Sam Smith of Mt. Blue in Farmington scored the North’s goal unassisted. Goalkeepers for the South were Trevor Gray of Gorham and Brannon Gilbert of Gray-New Gloucester, while Carter Lambert of Messalonskee in Oakland was in goal for the North.
In the boys C-D game, Camden Jandreau of Fort Kent scored both of the North’s goals with Grant Kidon of Penobscot Valley in Howland assisting on one. Michael Murphy of Sacopee Valley in South Hiram scored for the South. Reece Pelletier of Fort Kent was in goal for the North and Keegan Farnham of Valley in Bingham tended the nets for the South.
In the girls A-B game, the South goal was scored by Prelzi Piscopo of Cape Elizabeth with Molly Murnane of Scarborough assisting. Goalkeepers were Libby Hewes of Brewer for the North and Taylor Henry of Mountain Valley in Rumford and Sydney Gillingham of Bonny Eagle in Standish for the South.
In the girls C-D game, Camryn Rolfe of Penquis Valley in Milo and Jenna Dugal of Madawaska scored goals for the North while Lauren Reed of Penobscot Valley and Hannah Damon of Dexter assisted. Avery Lutzykowski of Saint Dominic in Auburn had both South goals while Alice Cockerham of Mount Abram in Salem and Caitlin Kendrick of Richmond assisted. Goalkeepers were Tessa Soloman of Houlton for the South and Bess MacArthur of George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill for the North.
Soloman, who is from a North school, agreed to play for the South because it didn’t have a senior goalkeeper selected to its squad.
