DEXTER’S MOST SENIOR CITIZEN — Rita C. Clukey was presented with the Boston Post Cane for being Dexter’s oldest female resident during a town council meeting on Nov. 8. Earlier in the week Clukey turned 98 as she was born on Nov. 4, 1920 in Canada. One of 10 children, Clukey started school in Garland and graduated from the Spring Street School. She married Nelson Clukey on Sept. 4, 1948 and they had four children. Clukey worked at the George Hall Canning Factory when she was young, and later at Abbott’s Mill, both full- and part-time, and also at Dexter Health Care for 7.5 years. Clukey became a U.S. citizen in 1970.
