DOVER-FOXCROFT — The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)/Miosac Club met at Thayer Parkway May 1 for the annual meeting. President Anne Cress welcomed members and offered grace before each member ate their brown bag lunch.

The regular meeting was opened with Betsey Ryan leading the Club Collect, American’s Creed and Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Diane Leighton took roll call with 15 members answering. She then read the minutes of the last meeting. Treasurer Pat Jones gave her report.

Cress announced the birthdays of Elaine Larson, Rheba Michaud, Suzanne Raymond and Vicki Moshcella and wished them all a happy day and urged members to remember them with cards. Corresponding Secretary Roxy McGlauflin read thank you notes from Pine Tree Hospice in memory of Betty Harvey, the food cupboard and the Girl Scouts.

A reminder was made to keep up with volunteer hours and continue making shawls, Linus Blankets, Angel Pockets, etc. Tami Cox received the traveling basket. A report was made that the ice had not yet gone out on Sebec Lake.

Wendy Hutchins gave a report of the District Art Show. The eagle from Foxcroft Academy won second place and the “eyes” done at Piscataquis Community High School got an honorable mention. The art work was outstanding!

The yard sale will be held Saturday, July 14, with a rain date of July 21, on Lincoln Street. Michaud will chair the event with several helpers.

Members needed to correct and add some information for the club booklet so all will be up to date.

Raymond announced the the GFWC New England Region Conference will be Sept. 28-30 at the Grand Summit Hotel at Sunday River in Newry.

Hutchins, chairman of the scholarship committee, asked the club to give two scholarships this year. Members voted in favor since there is enough money in the budget

A break allowed members to enjoy dessert provided by Ryan and Raymond before going on to the annual meeting. Leighton gave a report of all the meetings held in 2017 and 2018, number attending and business attended to — an excellent report

Jones gave the yearly activities and presented the budget for the new year — also an excellent report.

Barb Austin audited the books and found them to be in good order. The meeting was then adjourned.
