MILO — Brownville/Milo area Democrats held their party caucus on Sunday, March 4 at the Milo Town Hall. Carole Boothroyd welcomed everyone and introduced guests.

Attendees were pleased to hear from candidates Sue Mackey Andrews, who is running for the Maine Senate, and Dr. Richard Evans, who is running for the Maine House of Representatives. They also had the opportunity to hear from State Democratic Chair Phil Bartlett and from a representative for Congressional candidate Jared Golden. Last week the group held a meet and greet and heard comments from candidate for governor Diane Russell, and surrogates for Betsy Sweet, Lucas St. Clair and Adam Cote.

At the caucus Bartlett, Dr. Evans and Mackey Andrews stressed the importance of healthcare, dealing with the opioid crisis, education, Medicaid expansion and protecting children. These local candidates are running clean election campaigns and would greatly appreciate $5 donations. Please contact them for more information.

Evans and Mackey Andrews both live in Dover-Foxcroft and they want to make a positive difference for the people they will represent. The party office is open on North Street in Dover-Foxcroft. Anyone is welcome to stop in and volunteer.

Democrats also collected socks for young people living at the Shaw House in Bangor. Dozens of pairs were given to Dan Fleming, program director.
