DOVER-FOXCROFT — If you missed the open house and silent auction at The Commons at Central Hall during the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival, don’t despair. You have a second opportunity to bid on some great items including a basket of wines, antique lamps, a floral arrangement each month for a year from Chloe’s Collections (a total of 12 arrangements), gift cards to many local businesses, a free weekend at Freedom House B&B, a basket of Foxcroft Academy memorabilia, and much more.

Even if you attended the prior event, you will need to come back to check on your bid. The bids will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, so figure your strategy for that special item and don’t be closed out.

Once again there will be guided tours of the renovated Central Hall, refreshments, a chance to look through hundreds of compiled historic photos, and watch a video made by town icon Louis Stevens who was a Foxcroft Alumnus, supporter of the Maine Highlands Senior Center project and a long-time member of the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society.

Come share your memories of this historic landmark building, reminisce with old friends, and see what this lovely old building has in store for the next 130 years. If you have wondered what was going on behind those closed doors for the last nine years, now is your chance to find out.

The open house is part of the Dover-Foxcroft Shiretown Homecoming on Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have an item to donate for the silent auction to raise money to finish the sprinkler system and landscaping so the building can be opened for programs and activities, or for more information, please call Dr. Lesley Fernow at 992-6822 or Chris Maas at 924-4553.
