Letter: Vote for Carole Boothroyd

To the Editor;

I intend to vote for Carole Boothroyd for the Maine State Senate, District 4. Here’s why. I’ve listened to Carole talk about the issues that concern District 4 voters after she returns from knocking on doors and introducing herself to voters. She is concerned about the mother who desperately seeks help for her troubled son, but can’t find it. She visits with all too many senior voters who are hanging on to their homes by a shoestring, selling off possessions so they can pay their real estate taxes.

District 4 needs a Senator who will work for all the people of the district. Carole’s fresh ideas and traditional values coupled with her energy and enthusiasm are exactly what we need. Carole will work to secure funding for elder housing and health needs, support local businesses and the forestry industry, secure broadband connectivity for rural Maine, protect 2nd Amendment rights for responsible gun ownership, support quality, affordable health care for all Mainers, promote good-paying jobs, and work with all of us to build resilient communities.

Piscataquis County and surrounding towns are ready for new representation and leadership. The region has been hit hard by the economic downturn. And while the state and nation are well on their way to recovery, District 4 continues to lag behind in terms of job creation and critical services, especially in health care.

Carole Boothroyd spent her career in teaching, a nurturing profession where her goal was to have all her students succeed. District 4 needs a senator who will roll up her sleeves and address our needs. Now’s the time for a willing heart and a helping hand!
